Medical Update

Hello Everyone!
Ok, so here is the update/story of our medical situation. So, about a month ago I went into the dentist to take care of a broken crown, while there the dentist noticed a lump in my lower jaw under my tongue on the right hand side. He told me that it didn't look too serious, but just in case to go to an oral surgeon to get it looked at. We went on our vacation to Colorado, but I set an appointment to get checked out the day after we got home. So I went to visit Dr. Burton here in Orem and he told me that he couldn't tell what it was, but it was most likely a cyst, and he recommended that I go to the hospital for a ct scan to try and get a good look at what was there. So Micah and I went to the Utah Valley Regional Medical Hospital to get the ct scan and it was very calm and low maintenance, everyone was really helpful for us and we were able to get the results within a half hour of the scan. The results came out that I had what was most likely a dentigerious cyst. The next morning, my mom and I drove up to Midvale to see Dr. Stoisch, who is my current oral surgeon because he is under my insurance, where Dr. Burton wasn't, and had a consultation with him. We showed him the scans and he decided to have the surgery in two weeks, on a Wednesday so that Micah could be there on his day off. We also decided to get my wisdom teeth removed at the same time because they were coming in sideways and would start moving into my other teeth. So this past Wednesday, the 23rd, I went in for my surgery, and both Micah and my mom were able to come to support me. Turns out that I did Not have a cyst there, but it was actually a tumor. The doctor tried to remove as much of the tumor as he could, and he is sending it in to be processed and tested. We will find out in 7-10 days what kind it is and what the next step will be. Hopefully all will be good and we wont need to do any further surgery, but it is possible we might have to go in and remove some of the bone and teeth, and worst case is removing a lot of bone and teeth. Either way, we will be able to implant teeth back in in the future. Thankfully this is not life threatening, I wont have to do any kemo or things like that. Micah and I are going back this upcoming Wednesday to do a followup with the doctor and hopefully he will have the results by then. I will try and keep everyone as updated as possible during these next couple of weeks. Thanks for all your love and support!!!!

Have a great day!
