Crazy Day / Week 2

Hello everyone!

Well we had a very crazy day yesterday. Micah was called into our stake president's office in the morning and I was asked to come along. The stake president let us know that even though Micah had just been called into a different calling, they are changing it and extending a new calling to him as the 1st councilor in the branch presidency for the Spanish branch. And on top of that they wanted to announce it the same day, in 2 hours in the Spanish branch sacrament meeting. Well we both happily accepted and went on our way. Then the shock set in for me. Over the next 2 hours I had this huge feeling of being overwhelmed and scared and excited and wanting to cry (not being sure if it was crying out of fear or happiness) all at the same time. I was having a very hard time breathing and so I would constantly get up to get water or start pacing around our house. I have not felt that way in a long time, it was pretty crazy. I was sad because that means I'm being released from my calling, and I was worried because I had to call in to work saying I'd be late, and I wasn't sure how to explain why, and I was scared because I don't speak any Spanish and so now I'll have to learn it. All kinds of thoughts were speeding to and from my mind. But then Micah came over to me and told me that the Lord knows what he is doing, and if he wants Micah in this position, then he will make everything else work so that it can happen. And all we have to do is follow his plan. So Micah advised me to talk with the Lord and ask him for guidance. So I did. After that my mind seemed to clear up, and even though I was still terrified, I was able to feel the excitement and I was able to be the support for my husband. We tried to call as many family members as we could think of to let them know of what was going on, and thankfully Micah's parents and brother were all able to get there in time for the meeting. In the San Carlos Spanish Branch, there are about 80 people technically in the ward, and about 25-30 people actually come, so it is a very small small ward. About 75 percent of them understand some English, and about half of them speak English fluently, so it will be my responsibility to try and learn as much Spanish as possible. Our new presidency consists of the President, who only speaks English, and understands a little Spanish (very little), Micah, who speaks both, and the 2nd co. who speaks only Spanish. So Micah's main responsibility will be translating to his two companions. It is an interesting mix of men up there on the stand, but I think they will do an amazing job. I'm very excited for Micah and his new calling, and although I'm very sad to have to leave the University ward and all my young women, I'm excited for the future and I'm looking forward to the blessings this new calling will bring to our lives.

Week 2 of cooking goal:
I made a new meal this week again, and this time I made Lemon Oregano Chicken. I followed the directions, and the meal tasted good, but it seemed like it was missing something. Maybe a little more lemon juice, or even maybe some salt. Here is the recipe so if anyone wants to try it, go ahead and try putting your own touch on the recipe to see if it helps fix the problem. Then let me know what you find out!!!!

Oregano-Lemon Chicken
6 bone-in chicken thighs (3 pounds)
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons dried oregano

1-Place the chicken in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish. Combine the lemon juice, honey, oil, garlic, and oregano; pour over chicken.
2-Back, uncovered, at 375 degrees for 45 min or until a meat thermometer reads 180 degrees and chicken juices run clear, basting occasionally with pan juices. Makes 6 servings.

Also, on my last post, I neglected to tell you what we got for Christmas from each other and our family. Micah got me a beautiful necklace and a matching ring both with dark blue sapphires, and he also got me the Katy Perry CD. I got Micah a back massager that he can use at home or in the car, a charging stand to hold his electronics, the Star Trek movie on blue ray, and a bunch of colorful socks to match his ties. My mom got us a ton of stuff!!!!!! Some of our favorite gifts are our tomtom gps system, a blue ray player, a snuggie (amazing!!!), cooking books, Wii games, and a bunch of other items like clothing, cooking supplies, decorations, and just a ton of awesome stuff. Micah's mom made us an afghan that is very nice, and my grandpa made both of us our own pens out of wood. They are beautiful!!!!
